Indian Hills Camp is an 86-acre campground made up of grassy knolls, bouldered mountainsides, pastures, and oak groves.
Rich in history, the campground was once the seasonal home to bands of Kumeyaay Indians known as Tipai. Their presence here can be seen today with over one hundred metates and numerous historical artifacts.
When California became a state, the campground at that time was used for agricultural purposes and raising cattle.
In 1960 Ruth Folsom and Bertha Watts founded Indian Hills camp with the goal of creating a space where children could hear the gospel.
For over 50 years the ministry focused on serving the community of San Diego by offering a wide range of programming, centered around summer camps focused on sharing the gospel with children.
In April 2019, the property was acquired by a different organization to carry on the rich history and mission of Indian Hills Camp.
Following the transition and the pandemic, the camp was opened to guests again on a limited basis in 2021. It wasn’t until 2023, nearly 5 years after closing, that Indian Hills Camp was able to operate an entire year of programming.
Today, IHC continues to build on the mission of Reaching kids for Jesus Christ through Camping. We invite you to come and enjoy camping at a location founded for, and continuing to, impact children and families for God’s glory.
